        Being an island I think it was never that hard to fully close off our borders from the very beginning. We try become more self sufficient and push for local produce to cater for the population. Something like this was done in other countries like New Zealand, which has very good results, while not ever needing a full lockdown

      - KIM: sort of empty yet chaotic and overtime starts to feel like home even though minor changes occurred throughout my stay. The bareness feels warm because of a ray of light and a hint of green. It is home but it isn't.

Its amazing how quickly you can such the life out of a space when you take out the furniture. We threw away most of our books and our trinkets - they only served to pretend we read them or cared for them. And now we are left with an empty void. Time to breathe new life into our favorite room again. Time to place some things back inside our room.

Walked along the wrong bridge and on the map it seemed feasible to walk to the next bridge but instead it took us 3 hours. Weather was so unpredictable - morning: windy afternoon: sunny.

        It was hilly & foggy, climbing the hills was slippery and exhausting, but the different small houses kept me engaged. Hot meals, a lot of jazz bars and warm feelings. Feeling of freedom, time was more flexible.
        
        Parking all the way at the bottom of the hill still felt good. Climbing an unprecedented number of steps - Emma complaining and asking where the hell we're going. The sound of jazz. a discovery. Awesome cocktails a hidden garden. The best night out in years.

        Endless circular steps leading down to a ditch. Loud, Vibrating sounds resonating from the bottom of the steps. As you enter the space hits you with a strong damp smell but you decide to ignore it and just go with the flow.

        The sun was low and not very bright but it was bright enough to feel cheery. This made walking down the endless straight roads not so hard as it was just the right amount of warm. A slight breeze also helped. The pavements took a large portion of the streets, and even though they were wide and populated you never bumped into anyone. The air was fresh and the buildings quite low so that you could see the sky very well. One of the best walks in years.

        all the roads (ways) lead to it, reminiscent of an old empire, loud and busy, you couldn't get lost, but what seems to be a 20 min walk always ends up being over an hour. cobble stone streets, narrow ...

        It is an always changing face with a certain duality. Its axis attracts consumers which are ready to spend, but like a tree, as you branch further out, the familiarity increases through abandonment. There is an ominous feeling that the sickness of alienation invading the city's spine will also imminently reach its limbs.

        City Gate/Republic Street : 2 extremes of people - all dressed up for work (lawyers etc.) and those big families going to Valletta for shopping (their day off). The well-mannered vs. the loud/noisy ones. Cafe Cordina/ St.George's Sqr/ In front of St.John's Cathedral : Areas for relaxation - eating, having coffee, enjoying the view and also to observe what the passers by are coming from and going to - leaving the passers-by feel judged by the observers. Strait Street: a "taboo" place transformed into a go-to place - nightlife, good pubs/restaurants, feel good factor.

        going through the gate, the main streets and how it looks busy at first glance always seems to invite people to stroll through it, however, it's beauty is in the small streets which you can peak through, it's what always draws me in, always discovering new ones I've never passed through, and if i did i always notice new things, small details, of doors, of windows, of space appropriation and how people living there act and interact
