Definition and purpose of job analysis

Methods of information collection: Organizations may use one or more of the following methods: observation of the job, work diaries, interviews with jobholders and questionnaires and checklists.

Definition: the process of collecting, analysing
and setting out information about the contents of jobs in order to provide the basis

Purpose: job analysis does allow for an examination of whether existing job descriptions
and person specifications/competency profiles are appropriate for future needs

The results of work analysis: s. The output from such job analysis is the job description and person specification.
