Calcium helps build strong bones and teeth. It can be found in dairy products

Vitamin A helps maintain healthy vision and can be found in carrots and sweet potatoes.

Vitamin C helps keep joints healthy and can be found in citrus fruits and many other foods--even broccoli.

Eating many different kinds of food is the best way to get all the vitamins you need.

Supplement- a pill of liquid that supply the body with a certain nutrient that a person may be lacking.

Many people take multivitamins, a pill that contains small amounts of vitamins and minerals, so they know they are getting what their body needs.

Water carries nutrients to different parts of the body.

It also helps the body use those nutrients and get rid of wastes.

Dehydration occurs when the body becomes overheated and loses too much water. Drinking fluids helps prevent dehydration.

More than half of your body is water.

Humans need to take in water more than and other food or drink.

Water is needed to stay alive.

Different types of foods have different amounts of calories.

Foods high in sugar and fat tend to have many calories.

High-protein or high-carbohydrate foods that are low in fat and added sugar usually have fewer calories.

When food is purchased in a store, the amount of calories in a serving of food are shown on nutrition labels.

The amounts of carbohydrates, protein, fats, vitamins, and minerals are also shown.

On your meal plate you need something from all 5 food groups. Example- Piece of chicken, rice, green beans, grapes, and a glass of milk.

Any time you sit or lay down and give you body time to relax.

This allows your body to get back some of the energy spent during the day.

A special form of rest.

We know that most animals and humans cannot survive without sleep.

Important things happen during sleep. For instance, the body releases specials chemicals that help is grow and repair itself.

Sleep also prepares the brain for the next day. Babies, children, and teens need the most sleep.

Scientists have shown that people who don't get enough sleep have more learning and memory problems than others.

To stay healthy as possible remember to get enough sleep!

People who get to little sleep can gain weight and have mood problems.
