Investigate sudden changes or deterioration in condition, such as increasing chest pain, extra heart sounds, altered sensorium, recurring fever, and changes in sputum characteristics. Rationale: Delayed recovery or increase in severity of symptoms suggests resistance to antibiotics or secondary infection.
