Literature on this topic was systematically reviewed
Antidepressants.
They target brain chemicals that help control your mood. Boosting your mood may help against binges. Studies show that the following kinds of antidepressant medications might help:
Bupropion (Aplenzin, Forfivo, Wellbutrin), although it can cause seizures if taken by someone who binges then tries to rid the body of the food (purges)
Tricyclic antidepressants
Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs)
ALTERNATIVE TREATMENTS
Yoga
Yoga can help reduce stress levels and lead to clearer thinking. Yoga is a low-impact exercise with slow movements that help people become more ‘in tune’ with their body
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a form of traditional Chinese medicine. An acupuncturist inserts fine, sterile needles into specific points in your body. The goal is to improve your overall health
Relaxation therapy
Getting a massage may help with improving your personal outlook on life and lead to more positive attitudes towards recovery. Massage therapy can increase levels of serotonin and dopamine. It also decreases levels of depression, anxiety, and stress.
Definition
Any of a range of psychological disorders characterize by abnormal or disturbed eating habits
Bipolar Affective Disorder

waking up early
Talking very quickly
Racing thought
Not eating
Definition
Formerly called manic-depressive illness or manic depression) is a mental disorder that causes unusual shifts in mood, energy, activity levels, concentration, and the ability to carry out day-to-day tasks.
Treatment
BIOCHEMICAL TREATMENTS
Symbyax
Symbyax has properties of both an antidepressant and a mood stabilizer. Side effects can include increased appetite, sexual problems, drowsiness, fatigue, and dry mouth.
Lithium
It helps control symptoms of acute mania. It’s also effective at preventing the recurrence of periods of mania and depression.
ALTERNATIVE TREATMENTS
Calming techniques
Stress complicates bipolar disorder. Several alternative treatments aim to reduce anxiety and stress. These treatments include:
meditation
yoga
massage therapy
meditation
Rhodiola rosea
Rhodiola rosea (arctic root or golden root) may help treat mild to moderate depression. R. rosea is a mild stimulant and may cause insomnia. Other side effects include vivid dreaming and nausea.
Fish oil
You can take fish oil supplements to help reach this daily amount. However, fish oil supplements may have side effects that include:
nausea
heartburn
stomach pain
bloating
diarrhea
Schizophrenia
DEFINITION
It is a serious mental disorder in which people interpret reality abnormally.
Schizophrenia may result in some combination of hallucinations, delusions, and extremely disordered thinking and behaviour that impairs daily functioning, and can be disabling.
Symptoms
Delusions. These are false beliefs that are not based in reality.
Hallucinations. These usually involve seeing or hearing things that don't exist.
Disorganized thinking (speech). Disorganized thinking is inferred from disorganized speech.
Extremely disorganized or abnormal motor behavior.
Negative symptoms.
Treatment
BIOCHEMICAL TREATMENTS
Cariprazine (Vraylar)
Aripiprazole (Abilify)
Clozapine (Clozaril, Versacloz)
ALTERNATIVE TREATMENTS
Fish oil is a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids. These nutrients are known to reduce inflammation in your body. Inflammation may play a role in many mental illnesses, including schizophrenia.
Glycine is a protein building block, or an amino acid. It works with glutamine, which aids in brain function. Some studies have found that high doses of glycine may boost the efficacy of antipsychotic drugs used to treat schizophrenia. But there are exceptions. Glycine may actually decrease the effectiveness of the drug clozapine
Vitamin C is another integrative therapy that has been studied along with standard medicines for the treatment of schizophrenia.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Having facial expressions, movements, and gestures that do not match what is being said
Treatments
BIOCHEMICAL TREATMENTS
Risperidone (Risperdal
It is the only drug approved by the FDA for children with autism spectrum disorder. It can be prescribed for children between 5 and 16 years old to help with irritability.
Nutrition
Experts don’t recommend any specific diets for children with autism spectrum disorder, but getting proper nutrition is important. Sometimes kids with ASD restrict their food or parents try eliminating things like gluten to see if it helps symptoms improve.
Occupational Therapy.
Helps your child learn life skills like feeding and dressing themselves, bathing, and understanding how to relate to other people. The skills they learn are meant to help them live as independently as they can.
ALTERNATIVE TREATMENTS
Dietary Supplements (magnesium and B6, dimethylglycine, amino acids, omega 3 fatty acids
Gluten-Free and Casein-Free (GFCF) Diet.
Oxytocin.
