Biometrics
-
Finger print - a person's fingerprint is scanned and put into a system. Because fingerprints are unique, it prevents unauthorised access to the information.
Iris - This is when the eyes are scanned from a distance using photo technology to identify the person who is attempting to gain access to information.
Retina - this is an eye scan that is very close to the scanner. It is a better type of physical identification than an iris scanner.
Voice - technology that recognises someone's voice or accent can be used to ensure that they, and only they, can access information.
Face - technology is used to scan and recognise someone based on their features, bone structure and eye and skin colour

-
Does not rely on an object that can be lost, stolen or duplicated.
-
A cut on the finger or face may mean that facial recognition or fingerprint scanners do not pick up the print
If someone has a cold, their voice may change, making them unrecognisable to voice recognition
