Heredity
Phenotype
The physical appearance of the offspring
Hair color, eye color, height, and hand size
Genotype
The genetic material of offspring
Traits passed down from the parents, Recessive and dominant traits
Types of cells
Eukaryotic Cells
Cells that have an enclosed nucleus
animal cells and plant cells.
Prokaryotic Cells
Cells that do not have an enclosed nucleus
Bacteria and Archea
Cell division
Mitosis
Body cell division in which the nucleus divides
containing the same number of chromosomes. (Happens in all Eukaryotic cells asexually)
Repairing a cut or wound and creating more cells
Meiosis
a type of cell division that results in four daughter cells each with half the number of chromosomes of the parent cell, as in the production of gametes (sex cells) and plant spores. (Happens through sexual reproduction)
The creation of sex cells. It is sexual reproduction
