act two- details
'you mustn't try to build up a kind of wall between us and that girl. If you do, then the inspector will just break it down'- Mrs Birling
'I didn't her there so that I could make love to her. I made her go to Morgan Terrace because I was sorry for her'- Gerald about Eva Smith
-
-
'I think you did something terribly wrong- and that you're going to spend the rest of your life regretting it'- Inspector to Mrs Birling
'he ought to be dealt with very severely'- Mrs Birling talking about the father of Eva Smiths' unborn child
-
Mr and Mrs Birling are both quite ignorant when Gerald is talking about his relationship with Eva Smith which shows they are blinded by his class and place in life
The inspector asks about the terms of Gerald’s and shows he was willing to have an affair with a poorer woman he did not love-he was in it for enjoyment. also showing how Gerald doesn't apologize to women he is engaged to (Sheila)
Mr Birling seems to care more about keeping things comfortable and reasonable more than how his daughter is feeling
