Communication
Lunch time is used to get home and stuff yourself with food before online class
A notification from google classroom every morning notifies me of my work for the day
Most of our communication is online
Most questions we ask our teachers are through google meets or google classroom
Perceptions and Attitudes
Our attitude towards school is more positive now
We are unsure of how the rest of our highschool years will be
We now know that our perception that an extended March break would be the time of our lives was wrong
We appreciate school a lot more because we know what it's like to not have that privilege
Behavior
All students enter through their designated doors no matter where they get dropped off
We eat lunch at home
We have online classes more often than in-school classes so it is often raise our hand virtually through a computer
"E-Girl" is a popular way of dressing and is a way of dressing "goth"or "dark"
Rites and Rituals
Our remembrance day ceremony was a 15-minute video. To see and honor the veterans we did a drive-through in Elgin park.
We didn't have a academic achievements assembly. Our certificates were left on our desks in our homeroom class.
Our school rules and expectations assembly at the beginning of the year was shown to us through a video from our principal
We no longer have resiliency assemblies
Social Organization
People stay up to date with what their friends are doing through instagram, snapchat, twitter, tictok, and other social media
Sports teams cannot practice. To stay in shape for when we can and to stay connected, some teams do workouts on zoom
Many clubs interact through google classroom and google meets
Online groups are our main resource for socializing
Lore and Myths
Bridgerton is a popular show and is talked about often
Drivers license is a very popular song
"That's Cap" is a popular phrase that means that someone seems suspicious
Tictok is now super popular and has 75 million users
Relationships
In order to keep strong relationships we text or facetime our friends instead of having in person conversations
We meet people through online platforms
It is harder to connect with people because face to face interaction is limited
We value our relationships a lot more now that we know it may be awhile before we can see each other
Unwritten and Written Rules
Our OSSLT has been postponed and may possibly no longer be required for graduation
Our in-school hours are from 10:15am -12:45pm only on specific days
Our March break has been postponed to April
We can't enter the school until 10am
