Perfusion/Oxygenation: Shock-Cardiogenic - Coggle Diagram
Perfusion/Oxygenation: Shock-Cardiogenic
Pathophysiology
Etiology: Mechanical defect, MI, heart valve infection
Sudden pump failure causes a decrease in cardiac output
Decrease in CO activate the sympathetic nervous responses
Leads to increased heart rate and vasoconstriction which increases peripheral resistance of blood flow
The increased workload leads to worsening heart failure
Low blood flow can lead to even lower cardiac output causing organ failure
Risk Factors
History of heart failure
Older age
Hypertension
History of CAD
Signs and Symptoms
Severe shortness of breath
Tachycardia/ thready pulse
Pale skin
Loss of consiousness
Loss of consciousness
Complications
Stroke
Death
Multiple organ disfunction
Arrhythmias
Collaborative Treatments:
Angioplasty
CVAD
Medications like Norepinephrine bitartrate, Aspirin, Nitroglycerin, and Milrinone lactate
Coronary bypass surgery
Lab/Diagnostic Findings
Echocardiogram
Troponin blood draw
ABG blood draw
EKG
Pulmonary wedge pressure
