Large gross motor activity: Throwing balloons, large group, the children will throw up the balloons and watch it fall. They will learn about gravity and about what happens when the balloon hits the ground.
Loft, small group. Children can roll items down the ramp in the loft and we can figure out if they go fast or slow, up or down
Literacy Area
small group, children can read books about up/down and things that go

Small group. stop/go literacy activity with laminated cut outs of green, red, and yellow circles to represent traffic lights and play a stop and go game. The children can walk around the room, the educator leading with the green circle and then flip the the red circle and stop.
Shelf toys
Build a ramp with blocks
Small group activity; the children can build ramps with the blocks and roll down tennis balls or rubber balls down it.
Building towers, the children can build a high tower and knock it down or stack the blocks and see how high they can go before the pieces start to fall over

Small group: Materials: cars, shakers, balls. We can drop different items from the shelf toys down the loft (ramp) and see if they roll, slide or stay still
Creative Area
We can give children different items in glasses of water or small containers so they can see if items sink/float
Dramatic play Area
Small group. We can play a game of stop and go with the children, or bounce them on our knee and say up and down as their body moves.
Sensory Area

Large group. We can add plastic bowling pins and have the children knock them over with a plastic bowling ball
