Clover - Her Body, Himself
What s the problem?
-
"The slasher film is beyond the purview of respectable audience" (21)--vigorously on the pronographic--the slashers are trash films (historically) (this identifies a gap in the research)
If they are meant to be bad and scary, we should be paying attention to that?
pg 22-3: "The premise of this chapter, then, is that the slasher film, not despite but because of its crudity and compulsive repetitiveness" (22-3)--there is something useful in the favct that these trash films haven't changed
"conspicuously groups of boys who cheer the killer on as he assault hi victims, then reverse their sympathy to heer the survivor as she assaults the killer (23)--we're identifying about who incites the violence--and there has to be something underneath the appeal of the gore

What is the methodology?
it's old school Freudian (it runs the risk of framing victims of trauma as animalistic; runs the risk of pathologizing)
