Test Types
Proficiency Test
A proficiency test is not limited to any one course, curriculum or single skill in the language; rather, it test overall ability.
Have traditionally consisted or standardize, multiple-choice, items or grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension and aural comprehension.

Placement Test
A placement test usually but not always includes a sampling of the material to be covered in the various courses in a curriculum.

Language Aptitude test
Is designed to measure capacity or general ability to learn a foreign language and ultimate success in that undertaking.
Examples of aptitude test are the MLAT (Modern Language Aptitude Test) and the PLAB (Pimsleur Language Aptitude Battery).

Achievement Tests
Is related directly to the classroom lesson, units, or even total curriculum.
