SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT ELL STUDENTS AND SPECIAL NEEDS LEARNERS
Special needs learners and ELL students who scored below a 3 will receive differentiated instruction similar to that of the Word Explorers group, but it will be 1-on-1 and resemble tier 3-like intervention in an RTI system. Based on a student's knowledge of letter sounds and letter recognition, a short term ILP will be created in conjunction with co-teachers and parents. If there are any communication barriers, then instructors will request appropriate translation services. All parents and guardians, regardless of mode of communication, must be aware of their child's progress.
