clothing then were more practical, simpler and plainer. more freedom in clothing choices. often sported reform clothing for outdoor activities(biking). all walking skits were designed to completly cover the ground. the tulip bell skirt was popular, it was sung and smooth over hip and butt and flared out at hem. trim was focused more on bodice but still on skirt with curves and braid or lace sewn diagonally. they have contrasting fabric, braids, puffs, frills, gathers, tucks, pleats and fancy collars.

jackets were short and narrow. sleeves were narrow and short enough to reveal the cuffs of the undershirt. jackets were close fitting. rounded bottom at the front of the jacket. shirts were close fitting with narrow sleves. shirt collars were small and stiff with small points. bowtie was more casual. long narrow tie was more dressy
light coloured trousers with dark jackets. trousers were narrower fitting the led in a more tubular style
