Our Government
India is a Union of States. A single government cannot govern such a big country and thus, has been formed at three levels.
Powers and responsibilities have been distributed among them by the Constitution to prevent conflict.

All states have their own, individual governments.

The Judiciary
The judiciary is responsible for solving disputes and giving punishments to law-breakers. It is the law enforcement body of the government. It protects the Consitution and the laws made by the legislatures.
The Judiciary consists of the district courts in the districts, the High Court of each state which is the highest in the state, and the Supreme Court in New Delhi, whose decisions are final.

If any citizen feels that his/her fundamental rights are being denied, he/she can approach the law courts.

India is the largest democracy in the world. As Abraham Lincoln famously described, a democratic government is of, by, and for the people.

A government lays down rules and laws, ensures that these laws are being followed, and punishes criminals who don't follow the law.
