What has the government done to support child and youth during this pandemic?
The Issue: Child aren't receiving the support they need.
Mental support
The impact of transitioning to online learning
Losing a loved one due to COVID
No receiving face to face counselling sessions
Dealing/learning new covid policies. Intergrating them into daily life
Physical support
The affects of stress on the body
less physical activity
Less vitamin D (Sunlight)
School Supports
No face to face interaction
Less supports for children with special needs.
Parents are having to take on educational roles.
Socialization
Only communicating online
Living without physical touch
Who is impacted? : Child and Youth
What is the plan? To creat more supports for child and youth
Money supports for school needs, mental health need, and physical needs
Reopen parks, after school programs, and summer camps for child and youth to socialize. (Following COVID regulations)
Support groups: Counselling, coping strategies, behavioural support groups, grief counselling.. etc (following COVID regulations)
Easier access to online after school programs
Advertsing more about all of the opportunities and supports out their for child and youth
It is important for the government to support child and youth during this global pandemic because they are at a higher risk for mental health issues, a higher risk of delay in their stages of development. (ages 6-9)
