Life at Sea
Navigation in a Caravel
The caravel was designed and built for maximum navigational steering. The caravels contain 2 large sails to steer the ships forward by taking advantage of the high winds.
-
A caravel also had a rudder (A rudder is a flat rectangular peice which is attached near the stern of the ship in order to steer it) to help the ship to steer.
-
Navigation in a Modern-Day Cruise
A cruise generally had a onboard navigational computer which would automatically steer the ship unless of a emergency manoeuveurs situation.
The cruise also has a GPS (Global Positioning System) connected to a computer which senses the earth electromagnetic fields and manages to pinpoint a accurate location or ship.
The Cruise also has a tracker which emits a electric wave which reaches to a nearby satellite and bounces back a electric wave which tells them about their exact location.
Security in a Caravel
A caravel's inside was used as a basement to store food weapons and goods. Generally they used to stock up on weapons in fear of getting looted by pirates.
The strong deck above on the caravel was not only used for the sailors to sleep on hammocks. They used also keep guard there with loaded guns as the deck was a perfect place with a wide expanse and clear visibilty of the open sea.
Security in a Modern-Day Cruise
In cruises they generally have proffesional security guards in every station of the cruise (even in the captain's cabin) as security is a very crucial subject to mariners as due to technology advancements, it is considered that modern day pirates are worse than ancient pirates. Normally the cruise guards walk everywhere with a fully loaded gun and a hoard of ammunition.
Cruise captains also have a direct pipeline to the sea guards incase of an emergency making it more easier to contact people for help.

Features of a Modern-Day Cruise
Normally a cruise had a large expanse built for rooms, restaurants or amusement purposes.
A Cruise was generally considered "indestrcutable" by most of the engineers as it is generally built from steel and other metals for safe and long voyages.
Modern-Day Cruises have developed on the ancient idea of hoisting the flag which created it by only painting it on the side of the hull.
