Group 3 (red)

2 students who have little to no comprehension of the topic and need to be tested further for special needs.

Redo the two corners game with just this group, rephrasing the questions and simplifying key words. If they are still struggling or distracted by the movement, provide them with two answer cards attached to popsicle sticks to raise up.

ELL Students
Heavy use of pictures, realia, and visual aids in conjunction with clear and simple instructions
Chunk the steps into smaller groups (such as going over 1 step at a time, instead of multiple steps at once)
Review key words just like above but focus on a smaller set of “must learn” words and treat the other key words as bonus. Do multiple reviews in different formats where necessary.

SPED students
large print/pictures for visually impaired students,
reading aloud for hearing impaired students,

Group 1 (blue)
- Show and Tell (can bring in a pet, picture of a pet or favorite animal to talk about with the class)
- Explore less familiar animals and more specific environments when doing activities
- Reading practice with a teacher or ipad
- Letter writing / CVC word practice with a teacher.
- Encourage students to group animals based on features not mentioned by the teacher such as sleeping patterns, ear/eye shape, fur patterns, etc.
- Help group 3 students with their activities.

- Present their drawings and findings to the entire class
- Explore concepts of life cycles and food chains with the teacher.
- Discuss animal needs and how to take care of them.
