Solar Energy: Criteria D Formative - Coggle Diagram
Solar Energy: Criteria D Formative
Solar panels are made up of smaller units called solar cells. Most solar cells are made up of silicon, a semiconductor material.
Basic Notes on the physics: In solar cells, crystalline silicon is suppressed between two conductive layers.
Each silicon atom is connected to other atoms by four strong bonds which keep the electrons static so that no current flows.
Selecting: Economic and Environment Factor
Looking at cost/expense of solar panels
How is the solar panel working?
How is electricity working?
How electrical energy is produced from solar energy from solar cells
Photons shoot from the sun. When one of the photons strikes the silicon cell, it hits an electron through the bond and leaves a hole.

The negatively charged electron and location of positively charged holes are now free to move around.
