Organic Molecules - Coggle Diagram
Organic Molecules
Enzymes
catalyst: a substance that speeds up a chemical reaction without being changed and enzymes are biological catalysts.
simple enzymes: enzymes that are only composed of protein part and the protein part is called apoenzyme.
complex enzymes: enzymes that involve the action of other molecules, then proteins.
cofactor: inorganic molecules, ions such as iron, zinc, copper...

Proteins
amino acids: monomers, building blocks of proteins.
In protein structures and functions, the variation of amino acid content and sequence is the basis of the diversity.
-
denaturation: the loss of protein's normal three dimensional structure and biological activity. Excessive heat or pH may cause that.
-
ATP
ATP has adenine, three phosphate groups and ribose sugar in its structure.
phosphorylation: ATP/ADP's dehydration synthesis reaction, phosphate group addition
dephosphorylation: ATP hydrolysis, phosphate group removal
Nucleic Acids
RNA
mRNA: carries DNA-coded messages to ribosomes from the nucleoid region, 5 percent of the total RNA.
tRNA: movement of amino acids from cytoplasm to ribosomes, 15 percent of total RNA.
rRNA: occurs with ribosomal proteins in the structure of ribosomes, 80% of the total RNA.

Vitamins
-
Vitamin D: fat soluble
Sources are: dairy products, fatty fishes...
Roles in: nerves, movement and immune system
Deficiencies are osteoporosis (adults): bones grow weak (low calcium), rickets (children): thin, soft bones
