Inspirations
I am a massive fan of this scene from 'Avengers Infinity War' where Thanos breaks apart a moon and throws it at his opponents. This is a showcase of brute strength and the immense power that Thanos possesses. I really love the visuals in this scene where the moon breaks apart. I also love how the weight of each asteroid is animated with precision to give the viewer a sense of scale. Thanos also appears to struggle with the weight of the planet. Which again assists the suspension of disbelief surrounding the shear mass and volume of the moon. I intend to use similar animation tricks in my FMP to make objects appear massive and heavy.
This scene from the live action remake of 'Avatar The Last Airbender' has really stood out to me and been a source of inspiration because it depicts a mainly introverted and scared character finding his confidence and using his abilities to save the day. i am a massive fan of the oriental spiritualism and mysticism styles that are evident throughout the whole film, but are particularly prominent in this scene where the protagonist's tattoos light up as if to showcase his immense power and the strength of his abilities.
This 'Sankey diagram' here depicts the incomplete energy transfer for an incandescent light bulb. It shows how most of the energy used to power the bulb is wasted as heat energy. What this implies about the protagonist of 'Avatar The Last Airbender' is that he is using so much energy in this scene that most of it is transferred to light energy and therefore wasted. I really like this implication as it suggests that there is too much power for his body to contain. I might use a similar effect in my FMP
.
This image is from the film 'Ghost In The Shell'. It depicts dozens of what i think are monks, all surrounding a machine that they are plugged into. In the film, the brains of these monks make up a network, and the machine that they are plugged into is how one of the characters accesses this network and can then hack various other networks.
This scene inspires me because it gave me the idea that these monks could instead be used either as a battery, or a joint consciousness that can control and manipulate certain things around them. This idea seems to me like a really unique way to give my Sci-Fi style FMP a storyline. This being the cause of any events that follow.
These two scenes give me chills. The aspect of these that most appeals to me in terms of my ideas for my FMP. Is the showcase of a person's destructive potential when they are under the impression that everything is simulated. The protagonist of this film 'Ender' states in part 2 that he could have achieved the same result (a victory) without sacrificing his entire crew and wiping out a whole species. I really love how these two scenes showcase an immense display of power and destruction. Furthermore i am a huge fan of how the visuals in the film make the destruction look strangely appealing.
"And They Would All Smile
At The Beauty Of Destruction"
-- Markus Zusak
I hope to create a piece of work for my FMP that also portrays the beauty of destruction. However i might also include the idea that those responsible for the destruction were unaware that their actions were having real effects.

This scene is another example of immense power and destruction. It also helps enforce the idea that destruction can be beautiful. I really really love the visuals in this scene. Especially the brief shots where we watch the planets explode in an instant. I would like to try and include a similar physics animation in my FMP if i am capable of doing so with the tools i have. Including virtual desktop access to the college system.
This scene is taken from the 'Umbrella Academy' series on Netflix, I really love the quality of the moon's destruction here. Unlike the scene from 'Avengers Infinity War' the explosion of this moon seems quite chunky, and there isn't as much dust debris in the atmosphere. I feel that this type of destruction is more natural and uncontrolled. In the scene from 'Avengers Infinity War' Thanos directly influences the moon's destruction in order to create a meteor shower. Whereas the destruction in this scene from 'Umbrella Academy' is influenced by realistic physics. I would like to try and combine both of these styles into my FMP.
