Ecosystem Services
sources - products that can be used or converted by humans for our use eg iron ore for manufacturing
sinks- processes in the natural environment that absorbs our waste eg bacteria in soil breaking down waste
services- things that are done for us by the natural environs that don't produce consumable resources eg fresh air from trees
spirituality- personal relationships that human beings have with the environment eg land connection - Aboriginals.
Degradation
Land

soil erosion - soil wearing away through rivers, rain and wind. Clearing trees can cause wind erosion.
ecosystem decline - ecosystem eg streams & forests can be degraded though loss of vegetation or decline in amount of certain species. Can lead to desertification.
Atmosphere
air pollution - traffic exhaust and power plant emissions cause air quality to worsen. Millions of deaths occur directly as a result of this in Asia and Africa.
India's pollution - India is one of the most polluted countries in the world, more than half a million of then die prematurely each year. unsustainable industry has risen over the past few years.
recovering ozone layer- In 1987, international agreement banned use of chemicals that damage the ozone layer. It will return to 1980 level by 2070.
Water

Pollutants in our water- caused by human activities eg shipping, oil drilling, drilling. People lose access to safe, clean drinking water.
