- - - - ประกอบด้วย Neuroepithelial cell ในตอนแรกมี2 ชั้น ได้แก่ Internal limiting membrane และ External limiting membrane เมื่อเจริญขึ้นจะกลายเป็น 3 ชั้น ได้แก่ Ependymal layer, Mantle zone, Marginal zone
    - - Neuroepithelial cell เจริญเป็น Neuroblast ในชั้น mantle layer ซึ่งจะเจริญเป็น Gray matter
      - Axon of neuroblast ในชั้น marginal zone จะเจริญเป็น white matter
      - Mantle layer แบ่งเป็น2 ส่วน Basal plate เจริญเป็น ventral root of spinal nerve ทำหน้าที่ควบคุมกล้ามเนื้อ และ Alar plate ทำหน้าที่เกี่ยวกับ association fiber
  - - - Gliablast จะเจริญเป็น Astrocyte ที่ชั้น mantle layer มีหน้าที่ช่วยเกี่ยวกับmetabolic functions
      - Oligodendroglia จะเจริญเป็น oligodendrocyte ที่ชั้น mantle และ marginal layer(พบมากกว่า) มีหน้าที่สร้าง myelin sheaths ล้อมรอบ axon
    - - มี Microglial cell ซึ่งเป็น phagocytic cell ที่เจริญมาจาก vascular mesenchyme ในชั้น mantle และ marginal layer
    - - เป็นชั้น ependymal layer บุรอบcentral canal ของspinal cord
  - - - Central = dorsal root of spinal nerve
      - Peripheral = รวมกับ ventral motor roots จาก basal plate ได้เป็น spinal nerve แบ่งเป็น
        
        Dorsal rami: ไปที่ dorsal axial muscle, vertebral joints, skin of back
        
        Ventral rami: ไปที่ limbs, ventral body wall, และformเป็น major plexus(brachial plexus & lumbosacral plexus)

        Marginal layer ขยายขึ้นเพื่อเชื่อม cerebral cortex และ cerebellar cortex กับ spinal cord กลายเป็น pons
        
        Alar plate กลายเป็น sensory nuclei of cranial nerve V,VII,VIII,IX(Pontine nuclei)
        
        Alar plate เคลื่อนตัวไปที่ marginal layer กลายเป็น neurons of cerebellar cortex&deep nuclei
        
        Basal plate กลายเป็น motor nuclei of cranial nerve V,VI,VII
        
        Metencephalon : Cerebellum
        
        Dorsal of Alar plate เกิด Cerebellar swelling กลายเป็น Rhombic lip ซึ่งจะกลายเป็น Cerebellar plate
