After the incident with Curley's wife, Crooks, Lennie, and Candy, Crooks decides he wants Candy and Lennie to leave his room in the barn. Him wanting them to leave shows how he thinks that them being in here socializing with him, a person of color, is dangerous in society, which was confirmed by the incident between him and Curley's wife. This shows how from afar Crooks seems like a cold person, when in reality, he tries to make things in almost all aspects, easier for people on the ranch.
