A network is more than one computer connected together so that data can pass betweeen them.
A router can form a network you connecting devices together. Routers direct packets where to go.
ISP a company which usually for a subscription fee will allow a user to connect to the internet.
Purchasing the networks cabaling and file servers can be expensive.
Managing a large network is complicated, requires training, and a network manager usually needs to be employed.
Data travels across the internet via routers
In a star topology each network node is connected to a device, a central hub , switch or router.
Data is delivered to the receptants by finding the correct IP address.
Data can be lost stolen or become corrupted by computer viruses
A bus topology iworks as a single cable with each node “tapping” into the cable listens in On the packets being sent over that cable.
Advantages of networks: -communication -roaming -sharing information -sharing recorses.
Disadvantages of networks:-dependence -hacking -viruses.
When comparing different topologies remember to note : - cost -reliability-ease of connectivity -transfer of dat packets
Install anti virus software*
Network topology-is the way the network is arranged
When information is being sent from one computer to another, it’s broken into small things called packets,
Each data packet includes information on where the data is going, here it is from and how to resemble it.
Adding additional cables and equipment increases the cost or different topologies.
Packets are deliver to the destination IP address.
If someone unauthorised is trying to access your devise via the network you should install a firewall,
Someone professional needs to manage a network.
Packets are sent with instructions to make sure they can put the information back together again.
Ethernet and Fibre optic cables are used to send data across the internet
ISP -internet service provider
