Synapses and Reflexes
Senses, stimulus, organ and receptor
- Sight - light - eyes - light receptors
- Hearing - sound - ears - sound receptors
- Taste - chemicals - tongue - chemical receptors
- Touch - heat and pressure - skin - skin receptors
- Smell - chemicals - nose - chemical receptors
Once a receptor detects a stimulus, it will ultimately produce a response in an effector
-
e.g. you touch an oven that is on. The heat is detected by your skin and it causes the muscles in your arm to contract and pull your arm away automatically
