IDENTITIES AND RELATIONSHIPS: COMPETITION AND COOPERATION; TEAMS; AFFILIATIONS; LEADERSHIP
How do teams change our identity? Good changes or bad changes?
Makes us more open-minded as we work with other individuals with different perspectives/ideas. Learning to accept/value/understand other opinions, ideas, and talents.
Inhibit skills and talents from other students
Learn to understand the perspective of others (understanding and empathetic)
May inhibit bad habits too
Why should people collaborate? The benefits and disadvantages: to our identity
Every person has a different identity, brining different talents, ideas, perspectives, and backgrounds to a group. Thus making a group more diverse, as a result a range of ideas can be produced.
Your collaborative / team work skills can improve. You can learn to respect and be empathetic with others.
Multiple ideas together can create big solutions
A problem is that people can fear to speak up as they may think their ideas can be rejected.
Why should be people compete? And why should they not?
Worsens relationships between people, as people get too involved and forget to have healthy interactions. Competition could also increase bitterness between people due to wins / losses.
Serious involvement can lead to injuries or overworking
Motivation to do better each time as you have to 'beat' people.
Could result in low self esteem confidence for the losing side.
