Scientific serendipities / Summative task C
Scientific advances, creations and research have the function and purpose of making humankind evolve and thrive as species.
Goal:
Investigate a scientific discovery or invention that happened by chance. Explain how it was discovered / invented and the impact on humankind. Explain the role that fate or serendipities played in the invention or discovery.
Role:
You are a scientific historian and you are going to explain to your colleagues how a scientific discovery was made by chance.

Situation:
While studying the connection between chance, serendipities, scientific advances and conditional sentences you will have to give a 3’ speech about a discovery that was made by chance.
Success

Master the topic, do not read.
Speak clearly, organise your ideas and follow a sequence.
Explain the discovery, when and how it happened, why was it a question of chance. Explain how important it has been for humankind and what life would be without it.
Use conditionals, explain how life would be if the discovery hadn’t happened. Talk about present applications.
Be creative, use pictures, no text.
