Gerund and Infinitive
Infinitives can be used after certain verbs including agree, ask, decide, help, plan, hope, learn, want, would like, and promise.
After many adjectives:
It is hard to make dinner this late.
To show purpose:
I left for Russia to study Russian.
Complement
infinitiv after verb to be
Example: she want to eats pizza tonight
After Phrasal Verb
recognize the phrasal verbs
Follow the verb in gerund
Example: I keen on playing video games with friends
After Preposition
When a verb comes just after a preposition, we must always use Gerund , this rule has no esceptions.
Example:She is good at painting
Subject
gerund as a subject of the sentence
Example: Learning English is awesome
Purpose
infinitive to express a reason or to want something
Example: I went to the park to work.
Complement
gerund as a complement after verb to be
Example: she sugges drinking water 3 times a day
Gerunds can be used after certain verbs including enjoy, fancy, discuss, dislike, finish, mind, suggest, recommend, keep, and avoid.
After prepositions of place and time.
I made dinner before getting home.
He looked unhappy after seeing his work schedule.
