Undermining motivations such as avoidance, devalue, perceived difficulty, and anti-social motivation (Rosenzweig & Wigfield, 2017)
Rosenzweig and Wigfield (2017) describe undermining motivations as school avoidance, poor academic performance, and disengagement
Liem and Martin (2012) describe impeding cognitions and behaviors which lead students to avoid work and to disengage from their learning or academic tasks.

amotivation
In their work with Self-Determination Theory (SDT), Ryan and Deci (2020) describe a taxonomy of motivation which includes amotivation as an impersonal state wherein the person does not believe in their own competence or in the value of a task. Some of the attributes they use to describe amotivation, such as avoidance, overlap with undermining motivations
Avoidance
lack of perceived competence
lack of value
nonrelevance
perceived locus of causality: impersonal

decreasing motivation with age?
comparatively little of that research has been done at the high school level (Parsons et al forthcoming) and relatively few studies explicitly focus on undermining motivation.
