Maintenance Organisations

Maintenance Levels

Forward

Determine the condition of an Air System or equipment after or before a period of use

Minimise amount of corrective maint.

Approved Maintenance Organisation - Need to go through MAOS process (approved by MAA), MOE signed by Accountable Manager (Maintenance)

May be retained as individual tasks, allowing completion as operation dictate.

May be grouped periodically and allocated to the appropriate level of maint.

General Info

The TAA and DT wil set out the determined intervals

Intended to reduce probability of failure or the degradation of the functioning of an item

Carried out at predetermined intervals or according to prescribed criteria

Concession

ADF - No limitations of further flight

Lim - Limitations on further flight

F704D

Can be deferred by Level H, as prescribed by TI, unless directed by TAA or Mil CAM

Need to be responsible for maintenance activity they've defered

Upper lifing limit isn't exceeded

May incur penalty preventative maintenance

TAA approved variations

Survival Equipment & Aircrew Equipment Assemblies can only be authed by level K holder

Maintenance During Abnormal Usage

Faults which have been assessed by the appropriate DT as uneconomical

Laid down by the TAA in thE TI- RA 5401

Mil CAM should consult with the TAA in order to determine appropriate mitigation activity for subsequent inclusion in the AMP - RA 4961

Recorded on the Air System or component ERC

Maintenace can be anticipated (bought forward) by any amount by any individial, unless stated by TAA, Mil CAM, DDH or CAE

Ops in saline environment, including working inland within so many miles of the coast.

Ops in high humidity

Ops in desert or dusty environments

Cold and hot weather ops

AC in storage according to JAP 100V-21

Lifing

Definitions

Failure mode: Process that leads to the ultimate failure of a component

Critical Failure Mode: Failure mode that causes a failure likely to result in the loss of an Air System cornered, loss of airworthiness or likely to endanger the life of any persons concerned with its operation or maintenance

Contingency Maintenance (CTY)

Short-term availability benefits with greater risks

Will require ODH risk management, additionally air system and equipment expedient repair procedures may be required.

In op or combat conditions ODH may decide to implement.

Stopping certain maintenance activities

Decreasing the frequency of scheduled maintenance activities

Critical Components: A significant item that has a critical failure mode or would cost too much to let fail

Rectification

Loss of an ERC must be reported to the Level J who is the quarantine the component, and report to the TAA and the Mil CAM.

Life consumption is recorded on F700, as well as ERC.

If the ERC can’t be found the TAA will decide whether to issue a new one or dispose of the component
