Traditional learning spaces do not work because there are limited ways to participate
Many students raising their hands at the same time increases competition to share
It is harder to foster a collaborative learning environment when everyone is competing
The quality and quantity of answers provided can be diminished due to high stakes
Students may be more likely to share if they are not stressed out
The professor can only call on one student at a time
Class time is limited, so not everyone can share their perspectives, upping the competitive nature of hand raising
Students with anxiety are disadvantaged because they have to speak outwardly to be heard
Students are limited to the specific number questions available to answer
Competition and quick responses increase, which decreases thinking time and accuracy
Students with anxiety may not feel comfortable participating therefore hurting their participation grade
Choosing different people to answer questions is time consuming
The teacher has to individually call on multiple students who may have different answers
Students all have the equal opportunity to respond to the question even if their answer is not correct.
It would be more efficient to see a breakdown of peoples answers than to go through everyone individually
Some students need clarification when it comes to concepts and sample problems
It is difficult for the professor to keep track of who has participated and who hasn't
This could have an effect on the students participation as he or she may not feel a personal connection with the professor
Demotivating the students to participate within the class
Different students may prefer to participate in different ways.
The professor does not have the ability to differentiate the group work completed projects and assignments
Certain students may be better at specific tasks which are not neccesarily nontaxable by the professor
Limited ways ways to participate
