PROCEDURE
psuedopatients had an interview with clinician and faked a symptom "i hear a voice that repeats hollow,empty, thud"- all 7 were diagnosed insane
when psuodopatients were admitted to hospital they acted normally and reported they stopped hearing voices and asked to be discharged

STRUCTURED OBSERVATION- a record was kept on how many staff members suspected the psudopatient to be sane
STRUCTURED OBSERVATION 2- a record was kept about a staff members response to a scripted question - location of toilets or when they will be released
RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS
TREATMENT TOWARDS PATIENTS- abuse, patients refusing meds, powerlessness
rosenhan concluded- it is clear we cannot distinguish between the sane and insane when located in an insane environment
