EDUCATION (SPECIAL EDUCATION) REGULATIONS 2013
Duration of education
(a) not more than two years in a primary school;
(b) not more than two years in a secondary school;
(c) one year in a primary school and one year in a secondary school.
Requirement to attend co-curricular activities
Pupil with special education needs determined by the panel as suitable to attend the Special Education under subregulation 5(1) shall attend the co-curricular activities
Implementation of the Special Education
Any person who is involved in the implementation of the Special
Education shall use the Special Education Curriculum;
Teacher shall use the Individual Education Plan;
Teacher may make modification to— the teaching and learning methods, the time allocated for each activities, the activities arrangement and the teaching aids
Code of Practice
Consists of standard procedure that provided guidance in planning, preparing and implementing the educational programme for a pupil with special educational needs
Inclusive Education Programme - an educational programme for a pupil with special educational needs which is attended by a pupil with special educational needs together with other pupils in the same class
Special Education Integrated Programme - educational programme for a pupil with special educational needs which is only attended by pupils with special needs in a special class in a government school.
Individual Educational Plan - a record containing items as determined by the Registrar General which specifies the educational plan for each pupil with special educational needs.
Requirement to attend probation period:
The pupil shall attend a probation period of not more than three months at a government school or non-government-aided school.
The school attended by the pupil during the probation period shall prepare and submit a probation period report to a panel
The panel consist of the Principal, Head Teacher for Special Education, State Education Department Officer and the Social Welfare Department Officer.
