Lack of intrinsic factor is pernicious anemia
Faulty absorption from GI tract
Older adults
They do not absorb B12 as well from their gut
Crohn's, bariatric surgery, ileal resection gastrectomy
Parenteral vitamin B12
ptt will require
best tx
Dietary B12 does not correct this
But still encouraged... red meats, liver, eggs, enriched grain products, milk, dairy foods, fish
