ATOMS
Models
-
The matter is made of small indivisible atoms. Atoms can't be subdivided, created, or destroyed.
-
-
An atom is electrically neutral. It has no charge. In atom, both positive and negative charges are equal.
-
-
Atoms are mostly empty space. Most of the mass is concentrated in the center of atom. This tiny, dense, positively charged core called a nucleus.
-
-
Electrons don't move around the nucleus in orbits. The electron cloud is the region of negative charges, which surrounds the nucleus.
-
-
-
Electrons orbit the nucleus in orbits that have specific size and energy. The energy of orbit is related to its size.

Development
-
He named the smallest piece of matter "atomos," which means "not to be cut."
-
He declared that all matter was made of four elements: fire, air, water, and earth.
-
-
-
He formulated the first atomic theory since the 'death of chemistry" that occurred during the prior 2000 years.
-
-
-
-
-
He contributed to atomic theory through formulating quantum mechanics in terms of matrices and in discovering the uncertainty principle.
