        can either be used as evidence for unreliability, because so obsessed, questioning mental state or evidence for reliability because obsessed means likely to pay attention to detail.

        In some ways, the story is told rather calmly, though "healthily" is a bit of a stretch. There is control in the narrative. This control is maintained in part because the narrator doesn't tell "the whole story," but select bits and pieces of it. (like the mention of the events leading up to it, but not the whole murder itself. The murder makes up one line. Shows he is hiding some facts about the event, like what tool he used, etc.)
        
        the structure of only telling parts shows us how he is not being objective and he is not telling the whole picture. makes us wonder what he is leaving out and why? cannot be for a good reason.
        
        ''And every morning, when the day broke, I went boldly into the chamber.''
        Obsessive behaviour. We are left wondering if he has waited the whole night to go in - further illustrating his obsession with this act. The obsession makes us wonder if he would repeat this act, because he needs something to fill his time. Maybe he is lonely.
      - ''The officers were satisfied. My manner had convinced them.''
        Has the narrator outsmarted the police officers, or are they hanging out with the narrator because they suspect him? Transfers the paranoia to his readers.
        
        ''A shriek had been heard by a neighbour during the night; suspicion of foul play had been aroused.
        Poe’s paranoia. A shriek could happen for many reasons. The fact that he thinks it leads to suspicion shows the character's paranoia.
        
        And now a new anxiety seized me – the sound would be heard by a neighbour!
        Home can be an uncomfortable place when we fear our neighbours, or when we have suspicious characters like the narrator living near by. This common anxiety is brought to extremes in this story, echoing what we sometimes see if real life. Suggests that the character’s paranoia was so deep he did not trust even his neighbours.
