Identifying and Assisting Struggling Students
By: Jordan Turner, I…
-
I currently communicate with parents biweekly in a direct format, giving updates about their child's performance. This is a great system to document and report any noticeable changes in the student's performance and/or behavior. Unfortunately, due to language barriers, parents don't always respond to my concerns.
Usage of multiple media in my school is very limited. Differentiated instruction in my classroom currently consists mostly of increased scaffolding, often seating students at tables in groups where I can offer additional instruction to one group while the other students have more freedom to complete assignments independently.
Steps 4 through 12 are not applicable to my current school and are a reflection of the approach I would like to take in the future when dealing with struggling students. For these sections, I relied heavily on the resources provided by Moreland University, my interview with a special education teacher, and project IDEAL.
