El individuo
As an individual, the human person has two
fundamental characteristics:
It is distinct from all other members of the human species,
that is, although it participates in the same nature, it a totality in itself.
It is a unity, which cannot be divided without perishing. Consists
soul and body, spirit and matter, which in it form a substantial unity, whose rupture is death.
In the unity of body and soul, man, by himself
bodily condition, is a synthesis of the material universe, thewhich reaches through man his highest peak and rises
the voice for the free praise of the Creator.
But the human being, being rational and individual, is not
self-sufficient; he needs the help and care of others beings of his kind. He cannot live in isolation, he has to live
in society in order to satisfy his needs both physical as well as spiritual.
The man does not remain only in the search of the good
material; for being rational he has an inclination towards the good spiritual that he also seeks the perfection of him with thesearch for his personal and comprehensive development in order to get to the longing for him here on earth: happiness.
