The 5 students who appear to have limited knowledge about the topic, of which 3 are struggling with language and are at different reading levels and 2 students who have little to no comprehension of the the topic and need to be tested further for special needs
Initial Task
Gr. 6 Standards Review
This group of students will work with the teacher and teaching assistant to go through the standards/content that the students find difficult or don't understand as well as any vocabulary they might have struggled with. We will look at each question and go back to the basics of each specific standard that it is based on.
After each question and standard has been reviewed, the students will get a task card that targets that specific standard. It is a great way to practice the standards they struggle with and assess their abilities after the review.

The 5 students who answered most, including the most difficult, of the pre-assessment questions correctly
Initial Task
Math Escape: Escape Room Style Activities
This group of students will work collaboratively to solve escape room style activities that will be based on the same standards reviewed in the pre-assessment. These activities will however include more challenging questions based on the 6th grade standards. It will also include some questions from the 7th grade standards.
The answers will be converted into a code that they need to figure out. Activities include putting together puzzles, complete worksheets, decipher messages and completing word searches.

The 12 students who have some knowledge about the topic as shown in their score, but need to develop higher order thinking skills
Initial Task
Small Group Practice
Students will break into groups of 4. They will be grouped based on the questions they got wrong, thus together as a group they will have most or all of the questions correct. They will go through the pre-assessment quiz again together and they will correct their answers and compare answers. This will give students a chance to explain what they know, but also learn from each other some of the concepts they don't understand as well.
The students will then get an escape room style activity as well. These activities will be a bit shorter (less questions) and will be focused only on the 6th grade standards that the pre-assessment was on. This will reinforce the standards/skills that are a prerequisite for the 7th grade standards.
