The Assessment : Pre-Assessment Test I have found on measurements and conversion
Students will take this test and will be divided into three different groups as per their score

5 Students who answered most questions correctly

PBL : How can customary measurements be useful in our everyday lives?
They will choose one from the following : create a blog post, Google slide, or poster

Students in this group will also come up with a mini assignment for the other two groups to answer

These five students will be engaged in creating the PBL while the other two groups work on their assignments

Assessment for Tracking :

Their final PBL product in addition to our chapter test.

The Kahn Academy Lessons :
Students will look at online lessons for initial understanding of the topic

5 Students who appear to have limited knowledge of the topic but need to develop higher thinking skills

3 students are struggling with English language acquisition and are at different levels

2 students have little to no comprehension of the topic and need to be tested further for special needs

Students will be given a list of specific vocabulary words that they must know to understand this chapter

Math activities : games, puzzles, worksheets

Student workbooks : I will go over the questions with this group on a much slower pace and have students answer the questions

Assessment for 3 students who are struggling with the English language acquisition :

Review the vocabulary words
Quizzes
Math journal (with pictures)
homework
Unit test

Assessment for 2 students who need to be tested for special needs :

1:1 check-in with learning specialist and individualized assessments (verbal, visual cues as necessary)

Frequently check to see if they understand these words

First, model the game for them so both groups know what to do

Math Centers :

They will have three different centers

  2. Games
  3. Worksheet

12 Students who have some knowledge of the topic but need to develop higher order thinking skills

Hands-on activity

Prepare shapes with "gallons" "pints" "ounces" and have students pour liquid in them to see the differences themselves

They can also play BINGO. The questions will be on conversion. Whoever gets BINGO first wins.

They will record their findings on a worksheet I had passed out

Worksheet

They will solve the questions on the worksheet from the book. They will work in teams of 2 to 3.

Group discussion :

12 students will all come back together and I will see if they have any questions about the topic covered in class.
