Use the present continuous, to describe an action that is taking place at the moment.

Rules/Spelling

If the verb ends in consonant + -e we delete the -e and add -ing.

If the verb ends in -ie, we change -ie to -ying.

With most verbs we add -ing.

If the verb ends in one vowel + one consonant ,we double the consonant.

Time Expressions /Signal Words

Subject + auxiliary verb (to be) + verb + ing.

Subject + auxiliary verb (to be) + negative auxiliary (not) + verb + ing.
