Invite parents to our curriculum briefing so that parents understand how we teach their child, so they can better assist them at home.
How do you determine if a student should be referred to special education services?
When you have done all the necessary things possible to assist the child. You seek out the help of a professional.
I'm fortunate enough that I have a friend in special education and she gives me some picture tools to use for our non-verbal boy we have. The parents at our school don't always have the money to seek professional help. So they are really in a bind. We do everything we can to assist if financially they cannot.
What is the school administration's directive for special education?
Our school currently doesn't have a special education program. We focus on assisting the parents with their childcare needs. We inform the parents of all the students progress or any concerns we have about the child.
