      - Cerebrum: largest, left / right cerebral hemispheres, outer ridges and grooves, internally hollow, outer grey matter of cell bodies accommodates 9 billion neurons and inner white matter of axons portion of walls, seat of intelligence consciousness, will power, controls voluntary activities, decides action
    - - extends from medulla, runs whole length of backbone, inner grey matter of cell bodies, outer white matter of axons
      - functions: control reflexes below neck, conduct messages from skin + muscles to brain, condut commands from brain to muscles of trunk + limbs
