It is essential to know the rules for forming the gerund, these rules are related to the ending of the verb.
In general, the gerund is formed by adding the ending "-ing" to the verb
For example: watch / watching, eat / eating
Verbs ending in the letter "-e" will have this letter removed and the "-ing" ending added
For example: have / having, dance / dancing
Verbs where the final consonant is doubled and the "-ing" ending is added
For example: run / running, stop / stopping
