identify pt who need prophylactic antibiotic treatment
N/V/Diarrhea
C.DIFFICILE COLITIS (superinfection)
Antiseptic- inhibit microorganisms but dont kill them, only living things
Alcohol(rubbing alcohol)
hydrogen peroxide
iodine compounds
chlorhexidine
providone-iodine (betadine): check for allergies-shellfish,seafood

Definitive Therapy
Prophylactic Therapy- TB test

no myesthenia gravis
gentamycin is incopatible with heparin
gram (-)
Tetracycline- inhibit protein synthesis
UTI,STD, atypical pneumonia

Antibiotic- destroys microorganism
Disinfectant- kills most organism, only non living things
Macrolides- respiratory, gi tract, skin, and osft tissue infection
