Chinese notations
Numbered notation (Jianpu)
Numbered notations uses number to notate music notes, it uses a scale system with the scale degree 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 representing each note in a scale, dots above or below the number indicates a higher or lower octave.
Gongche notation (工尺譜)
The Gongche notation uses Chinese characters for the names of the scales, octave positions are usually shown by small marks marked next or above note. The notation was first created in the 11th centur.
Tablature notations (減字譜)
This notation is used for guqin, the notation uses specific words which represents specific notes and fingering.

Background of Chinese music
Chinese music is one of the oldest and most highly developed music system developed in China. The history of Chinese music can go back to 3000BCE. Music was written mostly for festivals and religious reasons. Chinese music has created its own unique and different notations such as numbered notation and Gongche notation. There is also a lot of different types of Chinese instruments such as Erhu, Pipa, Tanggu, Dizi and Bawu. Chinese music can be split into different genres such as
