Caring for a Chocking Responsive Person
Adult/Child:
Stand behind them and slightly to one side.
Then give:
5 Abdominal thrusts: Near their belly button with a fist
5 Back blows: Between their shoulder blades with the heel of your hand.
Support their chest with 1 hand.
Lean them forward parallel to the ground
Call 9-1-1 when the victim becomes unresponsive
Infant:
Call 9-1-1 when the victim becomes unresponsive
Lay baby down on your forearm.
Give the baby 5 back blows
Give the baby 5 abdominal thrusts
Alternate between the 2 until the baby starts to breath, cry or becomes unresponsive.
Continue up to 5 times
Symptoms:
loss of consciousness.
coughing
gagging, wheezing,
pale skin color
Panicked look
