definitions of change
concentration - when changed shifts to minimise effect of the change that has occured in equilibrium
E.g ; when an increase in concentration it shifts to directions of reactant( right ) while decrease shifts in direction of products ( left )
pressure - change of pressure will result to restore equlibruim position by creatin more gas moles ( increase in pressure it shifts to side with least moles of gas ) - right side ( side of reactants )
decrease in pressure - moves to the left ( side of most gas moles ) - side of products
temperature- increasing it - decrease in equlibruim constant ( shift to the right ) - side of reactant & fewest gas moles
decrease in temperture - shifts to increase equlibruim constant side of most moles - side of products so left side )
catalyst - speeds up a reaction , doesn't change mass before or after the reaction , doesn't alter chemical reaction products .
equilibrium

-
iron ( catalyst - haber process - ammonia ( nh3 ) - nitrogen + hydrogen - fractional disslation of air
vandium oxide - sulphuric acid s1: burn sulphur + o2 ( sulphurdioxide ) s2: form sulphur trioxide ( so3 ) so2+o
S3: so3 + h20 - h2so4 ( sulphric acid ) - not reverisble - highly exothermic
forward reaction and the backward reaction is constant
e.g forward reaction slows down
backward reaction speeds up = until they become the same ( constant rate )
-
closed system - equlibruim attainable since products or reactants can't escape
open system : equilibruim isn't atttainable due to reactants and products escaping
